everyone told me to make sure i made as much noise as i needed to throughout the day when the baby was sleeping, to assure that didnt need to tip toe around .. now that he can sleep through anything, he cant fall asleep without noise? has anyone else had this problem? he wont fall asleep unless i put music on next to him loud... or running water really loud.. anything to make noise really, does this eventually stop?
My two month old goes to sleep between 8 and 9, he sleeps without making a sound untill 2, then wakes up for a feeding, then when we put him back to sleep he grunts and squirms the rest of the night in his sleep. Has anyone else's baby done that? when does it stop?
My 2 week old baby settles well at night at about 10 and sleeps for 3 and a half hours but then wakes 2 hours later for another feed and has trouble going back to sleep, then when I finally get him back to sleep he wakes again 2 hours later at around 5-6 am fully awake snd definitely not wanting to sleep anymore. He is then awake for about 4 hours happy and alert. How can I get him to settle better st night and not wake up every 2 hours? I make sure he is awake in the evening and I don't have lights on or talk at night. He never cries he just is awake
I am 7mon. pregnant and I have a 11mon. old. Its hard enough to get to sleep and stay to sleep but i can't keep him out of my bed. We put him to sleep everynight but as soon as he hits his bed he is right awake again. I try to put him in his bed several times a night but after 15 or 20 times and hours of fighting this i'm so exhausted i just can't stand it and i let him stay in bed with us just so i can get some sleep. No matter what time he goes to bed he is ready to play at 5:30am everyday. He still is not sleeping througfh the night even in our bed. i have tried letting him cry it out but that really makes me sad and he could go for hours. Also he will not sleep in his crib for naps... If he even taks one!!! IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE HELP!!!!! I can for see a bigger problem soon with the new baby coming. ~HELP PLEASE~
I am completely open to methods from all mothers who have managed to get their 6 month old to sleep through the night. My son is so great during the day. A total angel. Sleeps with no help for naps at 10, 1 and 5 like clockwork. I've started to introduce some rice to his diet as well as full time breast feeding and he's loving food. Even at 7:30pm, when he rubs his eyes, he's really easy to make fall asleep in his crib. The problem is that he gets up every 40 minutes to an hour and a half crying. He used to sleep perfectly for 4 hours and then wake the next 3 hours and again 3 hours later for feeds. Now that he's 1 week from 6 months he's such a bad sleeper. What I'm doing now is running to him as soon as he starts crying and then i put my hand on his back, put the soother back in his mouth, tell him "it's ok and you're just going to sleep, sweetie" and he's out like a light... at least for 40-90 minutes. It's exhausting and if I could just get more than 2 hours sleep I would be so happy. He still eats every 4 hours during the day and the night and will gear towards weening him off the breast but in the meantime I'd be happy with getting up every 4 hours instead of 40 minutes. Please mothers... share your success stories. I've read TONS on ferber, baby whisperer's PU/PD method etc.... Right now I just let him give me cues but it's getting me up every hour. It's making me a zombie during the day.... THANKS! UPDATE: Yesterday he only had 2 naps. One short in the morning and 2 hour nap at 3. Then i fed him tons of rice cereal which he is loving and then breast fed him before bed. He slept for a couple of hours and woke up crying. I put in his soother and turned him on his tummy and he was out. Then continued to wake up every hour. I did the same thing. Soother, loving pat then he is out like a light. So now I'm realizing he can't soothe himself back to sleep and needs the soother. So do I now not give him the soother and force him to cry it out until he learns or is this just temperary and he will learn to sleep longer? it's definitely all about the soother!!
I've found that my 5 month old falls asleep easily with a stuffed animal in his arms (he's supervised of course). When we leave him to fall asleep on his own, he has a VERY difficult time. Is there anything I can leave him with unsupervised?
My mother said benedryl is fine but I beg to differ, any insights?? Its not that I can't "handle" my child for a 2 hour flight if he is upset...its just that I would like to be able to keep him peaceful rather than scarred and unhappy if at all possible.
My daughter is 1 month old and sleeps pretty well most nights, but currently she sleeps in her car seat next to our bed in her bassinet. I know it's not how we intended for the bassinet to be used, but we found that it worked and our doctor said it was perfectly fine for us to do for the 1st couple of months so don't judge! Any who I'm wanting to go ahead and get her some sort of sleep aid to help the transition to her crib since I would like to have her in her crib before I go back to work in a month. So mom's of experience I would love to hear what has worked for you before I go out and buy something. So thanks for your help we're all in this together! Thanks for all the great tips so far, but I was kinda wondering about white noise machines like this Cloud B Sleep Sheep and things of that nature as well. But any and all advice is appreciated!
We've been cycling illnesses through our family this week. My daughter (almost 10 months) has a cold and vommitted once today (maybe due to drainage?) She is sleeping a lot. When she is awake she is cuddly, and then wants to go back to sleep. She is still drinking some formula, appetite is decreased. How much does your infant sleep when ill? What is considered excessive sleeping? If she isn't feeling better by monday I will of course take her in Or if she worsens before then.
My breast fed infant only sleep about two hours at a time through the night. What Can I do to make him sleep longer?
To help prevent sids, what is a good age for an infant to be allowed to sleep on her stomach?
My son will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. He only wakes up three times a night, but he sleeps all day long. Waking every four hours to eat and sometimes I have to wake him to eat. I only ask because I have a thyroid disorder and wonder if I may have passed it down. So is it normal for a newborn to sleep all the time? When he is awake he stays awake 1 to 2 1/2 hours.
My boyfriend and I were discussing how long a newborn will sleep during the day. We know the baby sleeps a lot during the day but when does the newborns sleep habits change? At what month of age will the baby start to sleep less?
I'm thinking of buying an Uppababy Vista Stroller. Can my newborn sleep overnight in the Vista bassinet mattress?
I am taking Psychology class and have to do a report on Sleep Deprivation. How do I define sleep Deprivation?
Have any of you ever suffered from extreme sleep deprivation? If so tell me what it was like. What are the long term effects from not getting enough sleep? I am a college student and am just realizing that i need a lot more sleep. hmm im more refering to going long periods of time (months) with very little sleep (4 or so hours daily). Or going days with very little sleep.
what occurs in the brain during sleep deprivation? Some years ago I was unable to sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time, actually due to excitement and after about a week of this I became near hallucinatory and felt depressed and horrible.
I wake up restless and unrefreshed all the time. I never get a good nights rest and I want to know why. I go to bed at 10:30 and wake up at 6:00 I think that's plenty of rest. Anyone know if I could have a possible sleep disorder? Thanks!
i have sleep disorder.i mean at night i can't sleep even i am very tired but in the morning or afternoon,i'm lazy to wake up as these time i will have better sleep.how to solve?
My husband is constantly complaining that he doesn't sleep, or doesn't sleep well. I know that he is sleeping because I wake up and he is snoring. Or son has woke up many times screaming from a nightmare, and my husband never wakes up. He is in the other room, but still gets very loud. I sometimes have to bring him in the bed with my husband and I, and my husband still never wakes up. Is this a mental thing, or does he have some sort of sleep disorder?
I need to buy a baby monitor for sleep apnea but have no idea which one to get and what it would do? What monitor would you recomend? Not sure why bubs is having apnea episodes but it could just be from relux? Bubs is 4 days old. :) *sorry, its ment to say reflux*
I sleep through baby waking and do not hear the baby monitor, I need a solution to wake me up! Baby monitor with electric shock?
She is 15 weeks old. I have been letting her. I like it because it is portable, she can be with me wherever I am. I'm not ready to walk away from her even with a baby monitor. Is it safe? I also let her sleep in her infant swing, it doesn't sit upright. And what about the infant pillows? Are those okay? there is one attached to the swing and the bouncy chair.
I am 32 weeks and 4 days and my baby seems to change the wake and sleep patterns. It was the same for a long time.. I always knew when she would be moving alot.. here lately she has been way off her own schedule. She is still moving, just not the same type of movements... Wierd! Is this normal?
my daughter is 14 months and sleeps through the night... she goes to bed a 7pm and wakes up at about 6-7am and takes an afternoon nap at 11am... but the past few days she has been waking up at 1am or 3am or 5 am.... and cant get back to sleep... and then at nap time she wont go to sleep or she takes her nap early at 8 am or wants to take two naps and then wont go to bed at her bed time... anyone else have this problem?
I'm due in about 4 weeks and have noticed since I started feeling movement that the baby pretty much sleeps when I sleep at night. The only time she "wakes up" is when I turn over to sleep on my other side. Do these sort of sleep patterns continue after birth?
My bay has problem sleeping because she tosses and turns alot as well. Someone suggested I put her in a baby sleeping bag. Are these a good idea and why? how should I put her to sleep in one?
My baby is 12 months and growing out of her 6-12 month sleeping bag. Should i get another sleeping bag or use a duvet and pillow??
My daughter is currently sleeping in a baby sleeping bag - I was wondering when I can put her in a bed make with a blanket etc in regards to safety & sids?
I live in California and it gets really hot here in the summer, but also pretty cold in the winter. Right now my daughter wears feety pajama's and a sleep sack on top of that. I am thinking that just a onsie and no sleep sack for the summer would be good?
I was looking for some at the stores but they're thin . Where I can find a good one when the weather is getting really cold now? Do you have a link? Thanks!
Okay i was so concerned when my 5 month old baby girl had started rolling over in her sleep from her back to her stomach while she was sleeping,so I came here and looked it up, I now know there isnt much I can do to stop her. But its getting colder now and she always kicks off her covers so I was thinking of buying a few sleep sacks. But are they safe to use when a baby can roll around?
My baby fits into her sleepers everywhere except her legs. When I buy the next size up, they are too long. Is there a certain brand that tends to be a bit bigger in the legs?
We have TONS of sleepers but I since I had my daughter 11 weeks ago, I got alot of girly clothes. Little pants will ruffles on the bum, sweat pants with cute tops etc. I was wondering do you dress your baby in sleepers all day or do you put other things on them.
I have fallen in love with the two sleepers I have, but I bought them off of ebay so I have no idea where I could find them. On the tag it gives directions in english and french so I'm assuming they are sold in Canada. Can any one help?? Thanks Mommy! Your a lifesaver! Janzies. My fiance is obsessed with kijiji. I never even thought about it. Thanks for the idea.
I have 2 babies, one is 1.5 years old, while another, 6 months. I stay in a small 1-bedroom house with one window and one door. My problem is, my kids always wake up at night (3-4 am) crying. Is the small house the cause of their restlessness?
My son is 15 months old. He is my 3rd child and he has never been a good sleeper. Occasionally, he will wake up during the night screaming. We get worried because he will scream for about 30 minutes before we are able to calm him down. Nothing consoles really consoles him during this time. Often we are worried he is in pain because his body will be tense and his scream is very intense. He won't look us in the eyes during this time either. I call them fits.... I guess. I recently read that this could be night tremors. LATELY, he has been having trouble sleeping. Tossing, turning, whining just about every thirty minutes throughout the entire night. He usually can get some "good" quality sleep between 5am-8am, the rest of the night he is pretty much awake. (Not Night Tremors... no screaming, just a bit of whining because he is frustrated that he can't sleep) I've watched him and even when he gets still and quiet, his eyes open and close as if he is really trying to go to sleep, but something is keeping him awake. We have tried letting him sleep with us, but he does the same thing. We took him out of his crib and put him in a toddler bed. That worked for a few hours the first night, the second night he was the same. Nothing will get him to sleep. He tosses and turns and whines all night and even benadryl does not tend to help him get some rest. Benadryl will put him to sleep until about 1am, than he is back to the same routine and I honestly do not feel like "drugging" up my child just so he and I can get sleep. We have also tried giving him Tylenol before bed time, warm baths, milk, letting him fall asleep with the tv on, rocking him, ect. Any suggestions or recommendations? We are military and the base doctor will prob just tell me to give him benadryl like they did when I described the nightly fits. Those docs never seem to take things seriously. Any suggestions? ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS POSTED BELOW: RE: Sugar/foods - We don't have alot of sugar in the house, and our kids think cookies are ritz crackers! lol He has juice in the afternoon, but nothing in the evening that would upset him or that has sugar. RE: Stresses at home - We are a pretty stress free home. Everyone gets along, Dad doesn't deploy, I'm a stay at home mom... so we have normal schedules and my son is a really happy child other during the morning, day, evening and even late evening. So if he is stressed, I could not imagine why. lol What do 1 year olds stress over? Who knows? :} RE: Contact civilian physician immediately - I was thinking of switching to an off base provider, but that change takes a few weeks, and I've had horrible luck with doctors here in Tucson. My problem is if I switch to an off base provider, that takes affect on the first of the month. If we do not like that provider I have to make another change, and wait to the first of the month for it to become affective.... and so on. THAN, because the clinics on base are not taking additional patients, I will lose my spot with his current pedi. Meaning once I'm gone.... I'm gone! I will however make an appointment again, and if they do not seem to be interested in my child's symptoms, I guess I will have no choice but to make a formal complaint. It's sad that it's what has to be done to be taken seriously.... but anything for my baby boy.
I fall asleep in holding my toddler on the sofa in thinking that she also fell asleep along with me because of a long trip we came from earlier. And the next thing I know my mom is yelling like a mad women and I woke up so quickly that I was dizzy at first. My mom then told me that my 3 year old toddler had opened the door and went wondering in the streets and a neighbor thanks to god found her and returned her home and she said that she kept calling me in my sleep but I would not wake up and she even shoke me like so many times until she just left me alone. Now at this point I am very angry at myself but also at my mother who calls up my siblings long distance and making comments that I dont care about my daughter etc etc and how can I sleep like that. For some reason the alarm which I purchased in order to avoid such things because my toddler loves the outdoor did not sound off when she opened the door. Now I feel so guilty for falling so deep asleep and I dont know how I would ever forgive myself in knowing that anything could have had happen especially human traffcking. Do I have a sleep disorder? what happen in causing me to sleep so deep and not even hear my mother calling? I am so afraid now to close my eyes even if I feel tired.
